Rishikesh India is steeped in spirituality and the Yoga Capital of the world where we practice and teach yoga in authentic traditions.
The most convenient way to reach the school is to catch a flight from Delhi to Dehradun airport, as it is less expensive than a taxi and is very time-saving. Once you are at Dehradun our driver will collect you from Dehradun and bring you to the airport.
You are required to be in the school for the 1st of the month – this will give you time to relax and get your bearings before the ceremony on the 2nd we aim to complete the course by the 28th of the month to ensure that if you have a 30-day visa – you are able to depart India within the timeframe permitted. It will also give you a day after the course to ensure you have time for last-minute gift buying/excursions such as rafting that you may want to partake in.
There is an abundance of shops in Rishikesh, you will find anything from pharmacies, toiletries, Ayurvedic shops, clothing, and much more.
The main thing Rishikesh does not offer is some laptops and phones relating goods and services. For example, there is no service center for Apple products in Rishikesh however there is one in Dehradun. We would therefore advise you to bring extra cables and adaptors if possible to minimize time spent on replacing and fixing digital accessories. Anything from Pharmacies, to toiletries, ayurvedic shops, and clothing
An initial advance fee is taken to reserve your seat of $200, this is non-refundable. You can then make full payment in case when you arrive at the school. If you choose to pay by credit card when you arrive, please be aware there will be additional costs involved in international transaction and also exchange rate fluctuations.
An advance of course fees will not be refundable, unless it is a case of emergency, in this instance you can contact us to delay the course start. If the student cancels the course we will accept the cancellation but the advance deposit will not be refunded in a cancellation.
Our teachers have over 35 years combined teaching experience, they are each specialised in their specific fields, different teachers will take the different modules – you will get to know and love the teachers over the period of the course.
We offer clean, light, and airy accommodation, encased by the Himalayan mountains and Ganga on our doorstep. You have the option of single rooms or twin sharing; all our rooms have their own bathrooms. Here at Satvik Yogshala, you are on a yoga journey, you will be given 3 nutritious meals per day, We serve organic vegetarian meals We also offer you herbal teas and an unlimited supply of water. WPYS food is based on Yoga and Ayurveda principles which means that they are nutritious, easy to digest, and help optimize the wellness of the mind and body. The fruit & vegetables are also seasonal.
It is difficult to support all dietary requirements- however, you can contact us with your requirements and we can see if we are able to cater or let you know what we provide in more detail to see if it will suit your needs.
You have time after lunch, and evenings including Sundays to rest and self study. It is up to you how you use this time. The day starts early and it can be busy, however the energy of you being on this journey will pull you thru time and time again.
Appropriate dress code should be followed during yoga class and modesty be maintained with local culture concerns.We have all the equipment for you to take the yoga classes comfortably and one white outfit for the ceremony days. Satvik Yogshala is a registered and certified yoga school with Yoga Alliance USA. After completion of the course, you can register on their website and work anywhere in the world.
We take students at all levels even beginners, it is worth checking out a pre recorded preparatory videos on you tube to give you a little understanding and awareness of Yoga.
World Peace Yoga offers 200, 300 & 500 hour, four to eight-week residential yoga teacher training in Rishikesh, India. Our courses are certified by Yoga Alliance. We serve to provide its students with an understanding of traditional practices while also sharing their teachings of theory and yoga philosophy from basic to advance levels.
200 hour is the standard course once complete you can take 300 hours and become 500hour qualified. If you have done 200 hours elsewhere – you can come to World Peace Yoga School and take the 300 hour course, or you can dive right in and stay from 59 days and take the 500 hour course to fully immerse into our culture.
If you have taken any 200hour teacher training course you can take the prenatal/Kids yoga TTC to add and enhance your teachings.
Yes, many of our students take the trainings just to deepen their practise. In fact it is the perfect way to do so.
The shops are all within a ten minute walking distance. You will find phramacys, Ayurvedic shops, clothing, western food such as Nutella, all your needs can be met from gift shops to beauty shops.
Well how long is a piece of string? You may want to carry a certain amount of money to buy your daily needs items as well as clothes, gifts and handicrafts. So the choice is yours. Rishikesh has an abundance of ATM’s so there is no need to carry much cash with you.
Money changers are also available but we do suggest for your own safety that you use your ATM card if necessary. International Credit and Debit Cards are also accepted by many shops. Nowadays the QR (quick response) System is used commonly in most shops, be they big or small. However, to use QR you need an Indian Bank. Of course if you intend to stay a longer time in India, please allocated funds for that as per your need. Should you run short of funds and require funds from abroad, you may use the services offered by TransferWise and PayPal for inward remittances.
You can keep fruit, nuts , etc in your own room however alcohol, smoking, meat, fish and eggs is prohibited in the School. It is your responsibility to keep your room clean.
Everyone needs a visa to come to India no matter from which country you are. You should apply for E-TOURIST VISA. Be aware that there are many expensive visa agencies. The easiest and safest way to get an e-vis (ETA) is by applying through the official website of India (click here).
A one month visa costs around 40 USD. It takes only up to 72 hours and is issued via e-mail (ETA). We still recommend to apply early enough to be on the safe side! Make sure that there is no spelling mistake or number mix up. If your visa has any minor mistake in it, you will not be able to get on your plane!
If your country cannot get an e-visa, you can apply at the nearest visa service centre in your city or via post.
